A proposed workforce and affordable housing development on the Lake Fork site near Henson Street in Lake City, Colorado.
The Lake Fork Housing Project is part of the broader Lake City Housing Strategy effort aimed at addressing the community's growing housing shortage and the increasing difficulty for local workers, families, and residents to find attainable year-round housing.
The Lake Fork site was identified as a unique opportunity to help meet this need through the development of thoughtfully designed housing within close proximity to downtown, community services, schools, and employment centers.
The project is intended to create high-quality housing opportunities while respecting the historic character, small-town identity, and natural setting of Lake City. Current planning efforts are exploring a mix of residential unit types, community amenities, parking, landscaping, and pedestrian-friendly design features that support long-term community livability and resilience. The design team is also evaluating floodplain-sensitive site planning, sustainability measures, accessibility, and compatibility with the surrounding neighborhood and Historic Preservation District.
A first look at the design direction. Concepts continue to be refined through community workshops.

The planning and design process is being guided by a multidisciplinary consultant team including planners, architects, engineers, and housing specialists working closely with the Town and community.
Community involvement is a critical part of the project. Through a series of public workshops and design charrettes, residents are invited to review concepts, provide feedback, and help shape the future of the development. The first community workshop, held on October 30th, focused on site massing and layout concepts. Ongoing workshops continue to refine site amenities, architectural materials, floor plans, circulation, and overall neighborhood character based on public input.
The Lake Fork Housing Project represents an important step toward strengthening Lake City's housing supply and supporting a resilient, sustainable year-round community.
